Job SummaryThe New Beginnings (NB) Program Assembler position is a job and life skills program for individuals who have been touched by the criminal justice system. To be part of the NB Program, participants are required to participate in all five days of the prescribed training.Required Competencies

• General Labor Skills - Is able to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions and deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.Preferred Competencies
  • Communication Skills - Reads and comprehends two- and three-syllable words and recognizes similarities and differences between words and a series of numbers. Communicates simple sentences through both speech and written words.
  • Mathematical Aptitude - Adds and subtracts two-digit numbers and multiplies and divides with 10s and 100s. Is able to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.Other RequirementsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable people with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
    • Light to Moderate Physical Work - is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Can manage frequent exposure to moderate/loud noise and frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts.
    • Visual Acuity - Has the ability to adjust focus.
