Job Description:
Summary:
The Automation Technician II will participate in all maintenance
activities. Fields of competency will include trouble shooting,
preventive maintenance, break down maintenance, and participation
with the onsite operations team. Knowledge and experience with
frequency drives, low and medium voltage circuits, motor control
circuits, photo eye sensors, proximity sensors, communication bus
systems, plc logic, and electrical /mechanical schematic
interpretation will benefit this position. This position will
support distribution center automation. Work experience with
distribution center equipment such as powered industrial equipment,
MDR band driven conveyor, central drive flat belt and v-belt driven
conveyor, pop up diverts, spliced flat belting, mechanical belt
tracking, barcode and vision-based inspection systems, and bomb bay
sorters is a plus. Fabrication skills such as machine shop work,
welding, and using a cutting torch are also valued skills.
Job Duties :
Primary Duties:
--- Perform service and regular preventative maintenance work on
conveyor systems including fabricate, install and repair conveyor
systems as planned while keeping appropriate maintenance
records.
--- Perform testing and troubleshooting problems with equipment,
conveyors, v-belt transfers, Bombay unit sortation system, carton
erectors, banding machines, MCC cabinets, stretch wrappers, vision
systems, scanners, printers, facility systems (plumbing,
electrical, HVAC, elevators), forklifts, and anything else
associated with the operation of a distribution facility.
--- Repair or replace control devices such as switches, photo eyes,
proximity sensors, pushbuttons, contactors, motor starters, etc. as
needed
--- Set up and operate welders, drill press, grinder, hand tools
and other metal working equipment as necessary.
--- Troubleshoot and maintain micro controllers like Omron, Allen
Bradley, Mitsubishi, Keyence, and Siemens PLCs with the ability to
identify correct I/O points as well as match the addressing with
machine schematic
--- Evaluate, detect and report equipment, defective material,
improper operations and unusual conditions.
--- This position supports a 24/7 environment and requires on-call
coverage after normal business hours and on weekends.

Requirements:
Education and Experience:
--- Associate's Degree in technical field or equivalent work
experience.
--- Minimum 3 years of related experience and/or training; or an
equivalent combination of education and experience
--- Excellent analytical / problem solving skills required.
--- 3PL warehousing, distribution center or fulfillment experience
preferred
--- Varied industrial or distribution background is a plus. Key
industries include food and beverage, retail and apparel, FMCG,
healthcare, and automotive
--- PC literate with proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word,
Access, Excel, and AutoCAD
Essential Skills:
--- Have a good working knowledge of safety circuits, relays,
interlocks and E-stop circuits
--- Able to participate in a team environment with focus on
developing individual skills.
--- Written and verbal communication skills that allow easy
communication with peers and various levels of supervision.
--- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual
--- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
--- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out
instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
--- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
--- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, metric-driven
environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities
Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is
required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk. The employee
is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The
employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The
employee is regularly exposed to ambient lighting and temperate
climate conditions.
